In Haiti, the Bowen Field aerodrome was inaugurated in 1941. (The area is now called Piste)
Picture from Haiti Sun newspaper.
Air travel at Bowen Field, a long, long, longtime ago... Bowen Field is known to the Haitian public as Aviation or Piste. It is common knowledge that commercial flights began in the 1930s, and Pan American Airways brought such flights to Haiti for the first time.
The first one was a transition from boat to amphibious aircraft, and Pan American Airways used the above Sikorsky S-13 model. The plane is so ancient, Google images could not provide a picture. I will continue to use the one provided by Haiti Sun. The picture you are looking is of that plane, washed ashore at the bay of Port-au-Prince in 1937. (4 years before the opening at Bowen Field)
The Sikorsky S-13 could only carry 14 passengers and cruised at a smashing ground speed of 160 miles per hour.
