Roger Wilkins: In his own words...
I used to be a runner in High School and College and in my late thirties I began to jogg. Early way of joggers is the most foolish thing I ever did.
I was jogging near my house in Washington. I was the assistant attorney general of the United States. Best friend of the attorney general of the United States. I was jogging near my house...
And a police car came by - fortunately I had my Justice department ID in my hidden pocket.
-Boy ! I kept on jogging.
-Boy ! I was jogging... I keep on jogging.
-Hey, you boy! Spotlight on me...
-Spread your legs! I spread my legs, they hit me pretty hard between the legs and and hurt. And, I kept saying look in my back pocket. Reach in my back pocket.
-Boy, you robbed the store!
-Boy, you'd better stop! I think I'd better stop. And so, I stopped. And two white cops get out and slammed me against the wall.
-Boy, this, boy that, boy, boy, boy. and they pulled out this thing. It was a nice leather thing... it says Justice Department Official.
Ah, they melted.
-Oh, I was just like... he had a call and it was just like...it fits you to... ah, sir! Bla, bla, bla.
Yes, of course I called the police chief the minute I get home, and those guys were suspended and disciplined.
If I had had no credentials in my pocket, I would have been in jail that night.
Middle Class, 37-year old father of two children, doing nothing wrong but jogging. That's not the only time it happened to me. Well, if it would happen to me, imagine what would have happened to seventeen year old black kid in the inner city?...
100 Frustrating years after the emancipation proclamation, the Negro Community has arrived to the decision to celebrate the centennial in an all-out effort to achieve full rights now!
A live television show that was broadcast in 1963. It is more than 60 years old, and yet, I feel it is so relevant to some issues we face in the United States today.
It is also amazing because of the eloquence of these five American Black leaders who are about to discuss the State of the American Negro.
I am David Hoffman, film maker. I didn't shoot this. But I was a college senior, and I was watching the show on television with my parents, and what I saw so affected me and it made me decide to go down to Washington to attend the March on Washington that Summer.
It also got me to make my first documentary which is posted on my channel, from 1963 about migrant workers in Riverbend Long Island, near where I lived.
So look, before I run this amazing show, I got to tell you a little bit of background which I think will matter to you.
It was the Spring of 1963. President Kennedy is exciting the nation with a feeling of all kind of new things are going to happen, and America is going to be great. It's also 100 years after the Congress passed the Emancipation Proclamation, which free the slaves.
There was new and bold legislations before Congress. And it was exciting legislation, because it had to do with voting rights. Giving Negros, as the said at the time, the right to vote, and making certain that they could vote to support this legislation. The five major Negro organizations in America announced that they are going to have this march in Washington to support the legislation.
The issue of Civil Rights in America had been fomenting for several years. 1960-61, black students in the south began to protest by sitting in at lunch counters. Martin Luther King, in the late 1960s, had had his bus boycott, and the march in Birmingham, and other things were happening around the country that those of us in the North, like people like me, were watching, very sympathetic to what the students were trying to do: Get people to vote.
So National Educational Television, before we had PBS, decided to do this live show with five Negro leaders, the top guys, talking about what they hoped will happen at this march. It's prophetic!
What they were saying 60 years ago is so relevant to what people are saying and thinking... and truly apply today.
There was Roy Wilkings, the head of the N.A.A.C.P
There was Whitney Young Jr, National Urban League
There was James Farmer, of the C.O.R.E - Congress on Racial Equality.
There was James Forman, the head of Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, S.N.C.C, who had been training students in Mississippi to attempt to register voters.
I knew young people who attended the training sessions and went south, and I tought they were heroes. This was scary stuff. And there were the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. S.C.L.C

So much of this is relevant as I said.

2023: Opération Nightingale...
sollicité la vente de faux diplômes aux étudiants qui
auraient du même coup, évité d'assister aux cours réguliers
avant de passer les examens de licence qui, selon les
procureurs, est une magouille rapportant plusieurs millions de
dollars à ces écoles supposées, fonctionnant depuis l'Etat de la
Floride jusqu'à celui de New York.
Charles Etienne, 60 ans et président de l'Institut International du Sacré Coeur, et
Eunide Sanon, également agée de 60 ans, propriétaire du Siena
College de Santé, situé dans les environs de Lauderhill, ont
respectivement plaidé coupable, mardi dernier et le mois
précédant, d'avoir conspiré de commettre des fraudes de
détournement de fonds, d’après ce qu’affirme la cour fédérale.
Eunide Sanon, également agée de 60 ans, propriétaire du Siena
College de Santé, situé dans les environs de Lauderhill, ont
respectivement plaidé coupable, mardi dernier et le mois
précédant, d'avoir conspiré de commettre des fraudes de
détournement de fonds, d’après ce qu’affirme la cour fédérale.
Les deux propriétaires font face à 20 ans de prison et jouiront
une sentence réduite pour avoir admis leurs fautes de bonne
heure, d'après ce que disent leurs avocats Tama Kudman et
Mark Lawry.
Suivant les règles du verdict, Sanon doit rembourser plus de 1
million de dollars et Étienne doit la somme de $200 000 au
gouvernement des Etats-Unis.

Dans un autre cas, Étienne, s'était mis en collaboration
avec d'autres associés de Broward pour la vente de 588
diplômes falsifiés et la transcription de fausses nôtes
dans les mêmes circonstances qui se passaient à l'Institut
International du Sacré Coeur.
En janvier de cette année les procureurs de l'État Américain dans leur bureau situé
à Miami, ont saccagé l'industrie de la santé lorsqu'ils ont
rejoints deux cas additionnels aux trois autres en existence,
condamnant 23 citoyens qui ont eus des intérêts particuliers,
soit à titre de propriétaires ou comme des employés, ou ont joué
le rôle d'embaucheurs dans les deux écoles d'infirmières
précités, soit pour un troisième programme similaire à celui de
l'École d'infirmière de Palm Beach.
Ce réseau d'opérateurs des écoles de santé, ayant son point
focal au Sud de la Floride, ont facturé de manière illégale,
chaque étudiant entre $10,000 pour un certificat de pratique
et $17,000 pour un diplôme d'infirmière, sans aucune
expérience pratique ou d'entrainement au préalable.
C'est ce que déclarent les autorités fédérales, et que
corroborent les dossiers de la cour de justice aux États-Unis.
Les fausses écoles ont fait un raccourci aux étudiants
afin de leur éviter les deux années d'études requises comme preuve
de leurs travaux embryonnaires du métier, outre-passant ainsi l'examen
national et le certificat.
Tandis que, d'autre part, les professeurs assistent ces
étudiants en les préparant de passer les examens de licence
d'infirmière dans plusieurs États du pays.
On estime le nombre d'étudiants à 7,600, qui ont payé un total
de $114 millions de dollars pour les faux diplômes d'infirmières.
Les écoles bidons, en majeure partie, viennent du Sud de la
Floride et autres programmes suspects. Les années de fonctionnement
varient entre 2016 et 2021.
De toutes ces écoles, un tiers, ou environ 2,400 étudiants, ont
réussi aux examens de licence d'infirmières. La plupart d'entre eux
viennent de l'État de New York qui n'impose pas de limite
au nombre de fois un étudiant devrait nécessairement reprendre
les examens.
Toutes personnes, infirmières certifiées à New York, par réciprocité,
jouiront le même crédit de pratiquer leur profession dans les autres
États, y compris celui de la Floride.

Affaire Eddy Alexandre...
Homme d'Affaires haïtien de 51 an, vivant aux États-Unis pendant quelques temps (1998), Eddy Alexandre était le PDG d'une compagnie d'investissement située à New York, EminiFX.
La crypto monnaie (BitCoin) et les échanges en devises internationaux figurent parmi les principales actions de la compagnie.
D'après ce qu'a déclaré Eddy Alexandre, EminiFX possédait une clientèle de vingt-cing mille usagers.
D'après lui, il voulut faire du bien, aidant sa communauté, mais il se trouva qu'il en avait commis des erreurs graves. Il demanda au juge d'amoindrir sa sentence vu qu'il est un homme marié et père de trois enfants.
J'ai dédié ma vie au service d'autrui, écrit-il au juge Joph P. Cronan. Eddy Alexandre crut perdre ce qu'il y a de plus précieux dans la vie, sa famille...
Alexandre plaida coupable pour fraude fiscale, d'avoir amassé presque 250 million de dollars provenant des fonds d'investissement de ses clients, des Haïtiens pour la plupart.
Alexandre leur promettait de devenir millionnaires en peu de temps.
Toutefois, les problèmes technologiques s'accumulèrent dès les premiers jours d'ouverture d'EminiFX. La compagnie avait connu une croissance exponentielle du jour au lendemain... Ce qui n'a pu marcher de pair avec les moyens de pallier aux problèmes techniques de fonctionnement, tels que: De la technologie qu'utilisent les serveurs, aux informations désuètes publiées sur site web d'EminiFX. Le robot muni d'une Intelligence Artificielle pour faciliter les échanges et son mode opératoire, les souscriptions avec les autres agences et firmes de brokerage, n'ont pas eu lieu.
Lorsqu'Alexandre esseya d'y remédier, les banques avaient déjà procédé au gèle des avoirs d'EminiFX et la compagnie se trouva sous investigation par la Commission des Affaires, aux États-Unis(SEC).
Face à ces circonstances atténuantes, Eddy Alexandre pourra passer 10 ans en prison pour fraude fiscale.
Quelques particularités de l'Affaire Eddy Alexandre:
Les 5% de bénéfice que paya EminiFX aux clients ne provenaient pas d'une source d'investissement de la compagnie. (Initiative tout à fait Ad hoc)
Eddy Alexandre acheta un BMW pour la somme de 155,000 USD avec l'argent des contribuables.
