Charlie's Spirit...
For a while, it's been bugging me to write about Charlie, the love for his wife and devotion to his country.
In appearance, Charlie could not pass the beauty contest and judges of this world would not give him the time of day.
Nevertheless, Charlie was handsome. His beer-belly was about the size of a 9-month pregnant woman. Short and stalky, a nose that looks like Moe's and ten times more humorous. He really was...
Charlie's greenish eyes gave piercing looks through wrinkled eyelids and bushy eyebrows. Out of the unharmoniously contoured mouth, comes a soothing and thundering baritone voice. Need I tell you Charlie was handsome?
I met Charlie long ago but failed to tell the tale to anyone. As a young man, he boasts about marrying the only woman of his life. Charlie made no fuss about leaving her in Arizona. But, I could tell he missed her. Her smiling picture adorned the top of a steel cabinet Charlie used for table on his side of the room.
In 2004, Charlie and I were roommates, living out there in the desert. Our room was made out of a twenty-five foot, finished steel shipping container. Charlie worked with the Outside Plant crew, digging trenches, cabling, wiring closets, installing phones and Internet...
Charlie's cheerful demeanor earned him the salute "Here is, Charlie!" Indeed, Charlie was a star. In his early seventies, he was out there, living in a warzone, working and sending money to his wife in Arizona.
Come to think of it, by his actions, Charlie sets a very high standard for the rest of us. He never complained about hardship, the harsh living conditions. No time for that. Charlie was too busy working and enjoying life. And that was the Charlie Traynor spirit I wanted to tell you about today.

1950 : Incendie à Belladère...
Quelques soldats dans les casernes avoisinantes et des civils ont essayé d'intervenir pour prendre contrôle de la situation.
Gen. Paul Eugène Magloire, président de la République demanda qu'une enquête soit lancée immédiatement sur cette affaire. Les premiers résultats de cette enquête prouvèrent qu'un aide mécanicien était de service lorsque le feu éclata. L'employé en question sera entendu sur cette affaire par le Juge d'instruction très prochainement. Entre-temps la ville de Belladère demeurera dans le blackout pendant environ un mois.

Octobre 1950 : Le Prix du Café...
En 1950 le prix du café Haïtien sur le marché International était d'équivalence au précieux métal. Le spéculateur Haïtien achète le café local à raison de 30 ou 40 centimes or par livre (1.50 à 2.00 gourdes), l'exporte, le revendant sur le marché International. Il faut dire que le p'tit paysan ne touchait pas la moitié de cet argent en Haïti.
Que font les spéculateurs Haïtiens ? Ils exportent ce café, et le revendent au prix de 50 à 79 centimes Américain par livre.
Eh, voilà ! Le tour est joué !

Super Bowl LVII: It’s the Chiefs!…
Philadelphia led the Chiefs up to the halftime break. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles were on fire!
At halftime, the Rihanna performance was a treat
Something must have happened in the locker room. Because it’s not the same Chiefs team who went in that came out. Patrick Mahomes and his teammates went full throttle and their intensity went unanswered.
At the two-minute warning on the fourth quarter, the Kanas City Chiefs strategized for victory until the end of the game. They maintained possession while running down the clock.
As a matter of fact, the Chiefs intelligently avoided scoring a touchdown to keep running down the game clock up to 11 seconds. Then, at the opportune time, the Chiefs took a field goal. In my view, that's excellent coaching...
When the Eagles got the ball back, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles made a feeble attempt at a Hail Mary pass into the end zone... it was knocked down by the Chiefs defense.
Game over!
Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs for a memorable Super Bowl win! The Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the MVP trophy.
