Of all my years following tennis, I have not seen anything like this. I could not recall a time where great champions who dropped two sets, were able to roar back and overcome that deficit. Novak Djokovic did it twice this week, in separate phenomenal performances.
These two matches were not made for those with a heart condition. As a viewer, I found myself screaming sporadically at the edge of my seat, like in a roller-coaster.
Tsitsipas was a formidable opponent, tall and strong, with a wing-span that covered the entire court. Playing against someone like that could be intimidating. Your only chance is to capitalize on the number of unforced errors they commit. Tsitsipas won the first set in a tiebreak, and the second set was nearly a blowout. (6 - 2)
To beat Djokovic, his opponent would have to break him mentally and physically. Which is a tall order. Because, these attributes in Djokovic's game are simply phenomenal.
Djokovic won the French Open 3 sets to 2. The match lasted over 4 hours.
