1956: Henri Christophe’s judgement tree…

With great anticipation, I bought an old travel pamphlet dated 1956. Nobody knows what was marketable 66 years ago and I thought it was wise to spend less than 10 dollars by acquiring it. 

At first, I didn’t think the booklet was attractive enough to bring lots of tourists -the world over - to come visit Haiti. The Pan American Union outfit presented the above picture of a tree at King Christophe’s fortress’ courtyard where the latter allegedly summarily executed people.

Stories like that were never told. Imagine my stupefaction when I saw the above picture in the Pan American Union tourism pamphlet giving credit to Haiti’s tourism bureau for their contribution in making the publication possible…
