Photo provided by Carlo Brévil, former member of Violette Athlétic Club and the Haitian National Soccer Team. Happy Birthday!
Back in the days, these teams made us proud. Once again, Haitians will be watching the soccer World Cup on television...and without representation.
The pictures depict a season where Haitian first division teams were allowed to have at least three foreign players. (Semi-professional)
In Violette's case, there were 3 Argentinians, among them, Montironi and Ritaco.
The above featured Violette's team won the CONCACAF Champions Cup in the eighties. Another achievement was the friendly win over the New York Cosmos and Pele at the Sylvio Cator stadium. At the end of the match, a picture was taken of Carlo Brévil and Pele exchanging jerseys.
