Day four erupted with applause as Israel’s Premier Benjamin Netanyahu climbs to the podium. Then, came the frontal charge led by Ireland, Luxembourg, and Bangladesh. Suggesting that mass genocide have happened in Gaza? The International Court of Justice (IJC) could be involved on determining the merits of the case.
Meanwhile all blamed HAMAS for the terrors of the October 7, where 1,200 innocent civilians were killed and the taking of hostages.
Several Caribbean nations took to the stage: Belize, Barbados, and Jamaica. They raised several questions. Among them, the law of the jungle; Might is right? The U.N commitment to multilateralism…they observed that no reform has been made at the U.N ( Security Council) since 1962.

The third day began with a surprise so tightly kept in secrecy the mainstream media never knew to keep their camera lenses ready.
Problems with live-streaming discouraged many from trying the U.N’s third day link. Then, suddenly, appeared on the screen, Mahmoud Abbas , the Palestinian leader. The signal must have been scrambled to avoid detection. But, he was able to address the 80th U.N assembly safely.
Ghana’s president prepared statement was often interrupted with applause. Even though the message remained the same. The African continent needs to be represented at the U.N Security Council. That without structural reform the U.N could become irrelevant as an organization.
Some fiery speeches followed from accusations on the rise of neocolonialism to member nations not abiding to U.N charter, International Law, and territorial sovereignty of others....

If speakers in yesterday’s session ended with more of the same vigor with which it started. The second Day shows more forceful addresses, condemning Russia for the war on Ukraine and Israel for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Ukraine’s president drew attention to Russia’s continuing drone attacks on civilians infrastructure and Ukraine self defense using drones to destroy Russian’s military targets.
Could the war be stopped without both countries agreeing to settle their disagreements through negotiations?
Kenya’s president address was tantamount to a free course on world history. He referred to The League of Nations, the organization who preceded the U.N whose relevance became questionable for failing to act when appropriate during World War II. Could the same thing happened again to the U.N?
Panama’s president reasserted his country’s non-alignment or neutral position while managing the Panama Canal and several important waterways in the region…
Meanwhile, African chiefs of state reiterated their demand of two seats as the continent’s permanent representatives at the U.N Security Council. By our count, member countries of the African Union made similar requests last year…

Although today’s session at the U.N continues, one couldn’t help but thinking how the tone had changed from a year ago. The anger and the willingness to evoke or denounce dissatisfaction with current events is not quite demonstrated on the podium.
0900 The U.N Secretary general, Mr. António Guterres and the first woman elected to preside over the 80th. session, gave rousing speeches that were intermittently interrupted by applause.
Shortly after, Madame secretary, opened the floor for general debates.
At the exception of Brazil’s president whose speech was similar to a lecture in Democratic principles, everyone else stuck to their prepared statements.
The Uruguayan president was a closed second.
President Trump was surprisingly witty and funny today. While speaking about his unfortunate historical experiences with the U.N, from competitive bidding as a junior Real Estate Developer, on the building contract... - he noticed the lack of marble flooring and mahogany doors -, to being stuck at the UN elevator with his wife and the teleprompter malfunction...who, at the U.N tried to scare the heck out of the President and his wife?
King Abdullah of Jordan appeared frustrated for having to deal with the same issues over and over again.
Portugal’s president read his prepared statement masterfully and made a few off the cuffs remarks about how his country is engaged in world affairs on all continents.
Peru's president spoke about the attempted coup-d'Etat against the government, and the triumph of Democracy over anarchy.
Surinam's president took a moment to salute the Haitian people. She showcased her country's achievements on forest conservation and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for year 2030.
