Yesterday, Sunday the 14th. was a day of jubilation for Tennis as well as soccer fans worldwide. The day transcended race, gender and religion. The multicast began at Wimbledon where, in a spectacular display of sportsmanship and tennis mastery between Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. Final score 6-2, 6-2, 7-4 in favor of the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Then, sport fans waited a short while for the next event, as thrilling as the tennis match. The Euros 2024 championship bout between Spain and England. Contrary to expectations of a toe to toe face off, the Spanish squad, dubbed the best team of the tournament, dominated the English team for the entire match in all facets of the game to justly win the game. Score 2 to 1 in favor of Spain.
The icing on the cake came in late into the night when Agentina faced a relentless foe, in the Colombian team. Both teams had equal chances at scoring on the first half. However, the score remained leveled after the 90 minutes regulation. A few minutes were added after the thirty minutes extra time, a ball from Celso was served into the 18 yard box to Lautaro Martinez whose right foot kicked the ball through the back post into the net at the 111th minute. Argentina won Copa America 1-0.
Successful back to back championship win for Argentina.
