Day 4 at the U.N…

Day four erupted with applause as Israel’s Premier Benjamin Netanyahu climbs to the podium. As everyone expected, he stood in defense of Israel’s actions in Gaza and gave the audience a historical account of nearly seventy years of failed negotiations with the Palestinian authorities. He brought with him a printed slide from which he draw conclusions. Benjamin Netanyahu had several interesting pop quizzes for the audience, among them  : Who swears death to America? Who swore to wipe Israel from the map?  C All of the above, the audience responded. If applause is a measure of audience capture, could Netanyahu’s speech be the most successful of the day?

Then, came the frontal charge led by Ireland, Luxembourg, and Bangladesh. Suggesting that mass genocide have happened in Gaza? The International Court of Justice (IJC) could be involved on determining the merits of the case.

Meanwhile all blamed HAMAS for the terrors of the October  7, where 1,200 innocent civilians were killed and the taking of hostages.

Several Caribbean nations took to the stage: Belize, Barbados, and Jamaica. They raised several questions. Among them, the law of the jungle; Might is right? The U.N commitment to multilateralism…they observed that no reform has been made at the U.N ( Security Council) since 1962.
